Is The iPhone 4 Worth Buying?

The Apple iPhone 4 has a design that really sets it apart from the competition. Its slim design is even thinner than the iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 4 measures 9.3mm deep while the iPhone 3GS measures 12.3 mm deep, making it about 24% less in size. The iPhone 4 measures 59mm to 62mm side to side, making it narrower than the 3GS as well. Although the weight is the same at 136g, the changes in the iPhone 4's dimensions make it less bulky than the 3GS. Changes in design are of course just the tip of the cell phone iceberg. Where the Apple iPhone 4 really shines is in the technological department. After all, beauty is only skin deep. Maintaining the 3.5-inch display of the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4 doubles the resolution of its display to 960 by 640 pixels. The IPS display is comprised of 326 pixels per inch, making it the highest resolution phone available. The display provides an incredible level of sharpness, clarity, and image detail. Dubbed the "Retina display," it obtained the name because of its ability to process an even higher number of pixels than the human retina. The iPhone 4 screen has in-plane switching, or IPS, capabilities that are found in all iMac and iPad displays. Because of this, you get a vibrant, colorful display that looks terrific regardless of how it's held due to large viewing angle. The Apple iPhone 4 contains the company's A4 CPU. This is the same processor found in the Apple iPad. Running on the iOS 4 operating system, a number of capabilities are available to the Apple iPhone 4. The recently renamed iOS 4 provides the long-awaited multitasking function. Just as with the welcome and long awaited copy and paste feature, Apple has come through by making the multitasking feature operate without a hitch. Size advancements and the addition of multitasking are not the only achievements of the iPhone 4. Advancements in camera and video recording devices are also a welcome improvement. The camera found on the back has changed from 3 megapixels to a more robust 5 megapixels with the same size pixel. An LED flash and a backlit sensor augment the camera. It also comes with and integrated 5X zoom. Video can now be shot in high definition at 720p and 30 frames per second. Additionally, the tap-to-focus feature found on the camera is now available on the video recorder. Owners of the original iPhone and the iPhone 3G will certainly want to make the jump to the Apple iPhone 4. Previously, with the advance of the iPhone 3G to the 3GS, Apple focused on small enhancements in performance. With the iPhone 4, digital imaging was the priority as well as the display. These encompassing augmentations make the iPhone 4 the phone to beat.
